Edamame contains vitamin C, vitamin B3, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron, making it ideal for preventing osteoporosis and arthritis. In addition, it is suitable for people with celiac disease and for people with diabetes. Edamame can be cooked in different ways: boiled, steamed, or sautéed in oil. • The easiest way is to add the fresh or frozen edamame to a pot of boiling salted water and cook for 5 to 8 minutes, until just to your liking. At the end, you can submerge the pods in cold water and serve them in a container where you can add some more salt and pepper. • To steam them, pour one or two fingers of water into the pot, wait for it to boil, and place the edamame in a container (metal strainer or steam tray) on top of the pot. Then cover it for 5-10 minutes. This way you will get the edamame to be very tender and juicy. • Another way to cook them is by sautéing them in olive oil after boiling. Place them boiled and dry in the pan with the oil over medium or high heat. You can add soy sauce or oyster sauce. And to give it a spicy touch, you can add cayenne to taste.
